Videocon to foray into mobile handset manufacturing

With an aim to position itself as  end-to-end telecom service provider, electronics giant Videcon said that it will foray into mobile handset manufacturing. The mobile handset production will be carried out at the company’s new plant in Kashipur, Uttaranchal.

 

According to the Chairman of the group. Venugopal Dhoot, the manufacturing facility has a capacity to produce 1 crore handsets every year.

 

Earlier the company was reported to be interested in acquiring the handset business of Motorola.
