Verizon Hub, Verizon Hub Phone: Mari and I have been following the Verizon Hub, its pre-release through iterations of the product that ultimately sent in February this year. And I’m sad to say that Verizon has decided to pull the plug. The Hub was designed to be both connected to the Internet station and they serve as a center of the house of VoIP with a little thrown PIM functionality to sweeten the deal.

Meh probably was not the resistive touch screen as it did in, but as I predicted, a failure of the marketing and pricing. Require the Hub to purchase only through Verizon Wireless for $ 200 plus $ 35/month with a two-year contract is pretty steep barrier to entry by introducing a new product category to the mainstream.
I only know one person who took the bucket and it was fascinating to observe his metamorphosis initial enthusiasm in disgust after suffering months of problems – some technical, but most related to your billing account and telephone number. So Verizon personnel have not been fully trained in supporting this device. (He ultimately managed to get away from everything and ended up back in the Verizon VoIP service using their own phones typical.) While the cube are no longer sold and was removed from the Verizon Web site, a PR representative informed me today existing customers and contracts will be honored.
I think there is space in many of our kitchen counters for this type of device. So expect to see Verizon to give it another go with a more robust platform and better marketing and implementation strategy in the not too distant future.
